I never really liked The Sound of Music, though. And apparently neither did Neil Gaiman, who (according to the biography I'm reading) was dragged to it several times as a kid. "There was kissing, and Nazis, and those awful children."
Maybe it's a male thing. Or maybe it's a being forced thing. For a girl, what's there not to like? There's kissing, and a fight against evil, and hope that awful children can be tamed into sweet little things. Not to mention a heroine who isn't afraid to stand up to the object of her affections, even if he does make her swoon *g*
