Why is it that so many of the major ornithology journals take their titles from a single species or genus, despite not having any particular focus on that species or genus? The Auk, The Condor, The Ibis, The Emu. You don't see journals of mammalogy calling themselves "The Elephant" or journals of entomology calling themselves "The Beetle" unless they're actually focused on elephants or beetles.

Ornithologists are weird.

We want to open a boobie and wings bar called the Audubon pub where each of the waitress have a bird themed costume they have to know about their bird and if the guest picks it out they get a free drink.

but yes bird people are crazy

If I had an ornithology journal I would title it "For the Birds."

Jo gets a bird magazine called "Living Bird". Every time an issue shows up I get amused thinking about the complementary magazines "Dead Bird", "Unliving Bird", or "Undead Bird".
