Car: Car is fixed. Needed a new starter and some part whose name I can't remember was leaking brake fluid on the brakes so that got replaced too. Spent about $270 parts and labour.

Work: Work is boring. Nobody here yet. I was an idiot and let myself be talked into coming back a week before classes start to help out and they haven't even given me enough to do to make coming in worth my while.

Financial: Loan overage check finally came through. Paid off my personal loan and one of my credit cards. Putting the rest in savings. Hoping to pay off the other credit card by this time next year. I have more credit card debt than I am comfortable with (honestly I'm not all that comfortable with having any at all) but my credit is good, so my financial situation really isn't all that horrible.

School: Classes start next week. I got my books for two of my classes -- the third hasn't even published a book list yet, so maybe there isn't one -- and they all seem much more interesting that anything I had to read in my previous classes. History of printing and bookmaking, history of early British theatre. Ah yes, this is some stuff I can get into.

Fun: Been sitting around wasting time on my GameCube over vacation. Took some of the loan money and bought a few new games.

Resolutions: (1) Clean. Tommy (housemate) got somehow replaced by a pod person who spent the last two days removing all the crap from the kitchen and living room. This removes my excuse for not vacuuming (you can actually reach all parts of the floor now) and makes me doubly ashamed for the messiness of my own room.
(2) Spend less time on the internet and more time reading actual books. At least half of the books I own I haven't read, many of them really interesting non-fiction stuff that I bought because I wanted to learn more about the topic and then never picked back up.

Just had Russian food for the first time. Very very good! I had borsch, which was a soup with lots of cabbage that I liked even though I usually hate cabbage, and Ukranian steak, which is actually pork covered in cheese. And an absolutely wonderful dessert cake whose name I can't remember. It was wonderful. Must go again soon.

I thought most cats didn't like enclosed places. So why does Samantha go to a great deal of trouble to climb up on my bed *under the covers*? It's is very weird to watch a cat-sized lump wander around under the bedclothes.

I love the way the wolf in this picture seems to be staring right at you.
