So, I tend to collect LJ friends sometimes without a clear remembrance of where I met said person (come on, don't tell me you haven't done that too).

So I'm creating a new Boston filter - let me know either in comments or via email (gwynhefar at gmail dot com) if you should be on it (and your use-name, if you want me to know it). Hopefully, among other things, it will help me put faces and names to LJ folks.

Why did no one tell me you can have custom userheads now? This will be my default but I got the pirate and leprechaun ones as well :)

Just another announcement for those who missed my first one awhile ago.

I'm doing story bits and poems that are inspired (sometimes loosely) by the daily Tarot cards I pull. Most are short, but some become full stories. To keep from clogging the lists of folks who don't really want to read it all, it's in a filter.

Anyone who wants in, let me know. So far I've been pretty good at doing a piece a day, or occasionally I'll miss a day and so do two the next. So this is pretty high-volume.

Ok, this is weird. Ever since yesterday I've noticed that when I am looking at a particular entry in my LJ the "Edit this Entry", "Add to Memories", etc. links that are usually at the bottom are missing. I've checked and double checked to make sure I'm properly logged in, but I can't seem to get them back. This is annoying because it means I have to go to the edit entries tab and several more steps to edit something. Anyone have any idea what might have happened and how to fix it?

Weird -- my notifications are showing up in my in-box *hours* after the comment has posted online. This is quite annoying, as I like to know what people are saying *now*.

New layout

Ok, so I've done an overhaul of my background, font, etc. on my journal in honour of summer. It's not quite as aesthetically pleasing as the winter one was, but I got tired of staring at the cold snow all day long.
gwynhefar: (DW Fantastic)
Ooh, look! After 4 days I can finally post to my journal again. That was an annoying bug.

So, weekend. And no, I haven't seen Pirates yet because I'm waiting for later in the week when it won't be so crowded. So no spoilers, please.

In other news, momma-cat was successfully returned to the wild after being spayed. The other two kittens have now come inside to join Fiona, because they were all sad outside and they need to be socialised more if I'm going to find them homes. Of course they are now named. The grey tabby is Fergus and the black one is Finnegan. I have attempted to get more pictures this weekend, so I'll upload them tomorrow and see how they turn out.

Good news and bad news --

Bad news, Fionn is having diarrhea problems again today and he had another one of those partial seizures where he was walking around like he was drunk. This one was even shorter than the last time, only about a minute or two. I called the vet, and he said that these types of episodes are not uncommon in older cats and that as long as he doesn't go into full convulsions, the episodes don't last longer than 10 minutes, and he doesn't show any lasting side effects we don't really have to worry too much about it. The diarrhea isn't enough to worry about yet, but I'm to keep an eye on it, and the vet suggested I create a little "Fionn health diary" to keep track of any episodes or other abnormalities I notice so we can see if there's any pattern. So get ready to start seeing information on kitty feeding, behaviour, and health in my (soon to be more frequent) daily posts.

Good news -- Fionn's thyroid is much improved. He went from about 25 to 6 in two weeks. Normal is around 4. We're adding another half a pill a day to try and get it down those last two points. They said they've never seen a cat who needed this much thyroid medication, but as long as we can keep it down and maintain it he won't need radiation. Generally if they need radiation the medication doesn't have much of an effect at all. We're not totally in the clear yet, we still need to lower it those last two points and then maintain the normal level for at least two months before we can say his thyroid condition is completely under control, but it's an encouraging sign nonetheless.

Now, in my health news, today sucked as I didn't get much of any sleep last night and I've been feeling run down all week. This is, I think, the most frustrating part of being sick -- the period of recovery where you feel fine most of the time but run out of energy very quickly. I stayed home today, missing my desk shift, so I'll have to take sick leave for that, although I did get quite a bit of work done while I was home. I'm going in tomorrow come hell or high water, at least for awhile, as I've barely been out at all and I miss human companionship.

So yeah, that's my life.

Now back to reading . . .

BTW: I need a bookish icon that reads "So many books, so little time". Anyone want to make me one?

I'm in a funk today. Look here for bad depressing poetry, song lyrics, and other morose musings. No *hugs* needed, it'll pass.

Ok, so because I'm an idiot and I don't know how to work the forward posting thing in LJ, none of my entries from the past few days have shown up in people's friends list. So if you only read me in your friends list, please stop by my journal and look over what you've missed. Problem is fixed now :)

Does anyone know how to lighten an image that's a little too dark? I'm trying to make an icon, but the base is hard to see.

Feel free to add me. So far it's just pictures of the kitties. The main "meat" of my journaling will still be done here.
