Icons!

Ok, so I'm looking to fill up some of the 50-odd spaces I have left on my icons list. So I propose an icon trade. I'm the first to admit that I'm not particularly skilled, and I can't do anything much flashier than adding text to a picture and scrolling images, but if you want, I'll make an icon for you in return for one from you.

The rules. Comment here if you want an icon. If you have a specific topic, idea, quote, poem, etc that you want it based on let me know. Otherwise I'll take a look at your interests and pick one to base the icon on.

In return, you'll take a look at my interests and make me an icon based on one of those.

Let the trading begin.

Ok, so since hte two hours flex time I was going to take Friday afternoon got cancelled by the fact that the library closed early anyway, I have decided to take those hours this afternoon instead. Which means I only have to make it until 2:00 and then I'm outta here!

Aargh!

So since yesterday I've had a slightly sore scratchy throat. [livejournal.com profile] harkalark is coming into town this weekend.

I will not get sick.
I will not get sick.
I will not get sick.

Ow!

So I had physical therapy yesterday. And it had been a good couple of days. Physical therapy went well, and I was having little to no pain. I was fine all last night.

And then I woke up this morning. Owie. Sciatica pain with a vengeance. Took my standard half a Darvocet and that didn't take care of it. I had to take another half. Still hurt, but not quite as badly.

I'm glad I'm going home early today. I foresee a long soak in a hot tub followed by much lounging on the couch playing Harvest Moon (why, yes, I am addicted. Why do you ask?)

As for the digital camera quest -- I looked through all my boxes yesterday and didn't find it. Grrr. I suppose there's still a chance it's buried somewhere, but if so I doubt I'll be able to find it until I actually get around to putting all that stuff away. I've got a goal though -- two boxes a weekend. I did two this weekend, and I'll probably let myself do just one this weekend since [livejournal.com profile] harkalark is coming, but the following weekend I'll be back on schedule. Of course, there's always the chance that the camera got left behind or lost in the move. It was a cheapo camera, but still.

Speaking of which, [livejournal.com profile] harkalark, can you bring your digital camera with you and let me use it for a few pictures, pleeeeeaase! I need pics of the cats, the birds, the snakes, and the cranes (gee, what a menagerie *g*)

There's a GLBTS social at church tonight. I was planning on going, but I guess now I'll see how I feel come time to leave. Also, at some point tonight or tomorrow night I really have to do some cleaning. Not like [livejournal.com profile] harkalark hasn't seen my apartments in their worst states, but still, it's the principle of the thing.

As you can probably tell by the randomy nature of this post, I am rather disconnected right now. A full Darvocet does that to me. Not to mention the still present pain and random distraction. Today is a professional literature day. Not much real work getting done, but at least I can make a dent in the stack of library journals in my to-read box.

By the way, y'all aren't nearly talkative enough. I require amusement between each journal article. Also, go participate in my icon trade. I won't even hold you to a trade. While an icon offering would be appreciated, I'll make 'em now just for the challenge.

pottage: (n) [From Middle English potage, lit. 'that which is put in a pot']
1. A dish composed of vegetables alone, or along with meat, boiled to softness in water, and appropriately seasoned; soup, esp. a thick soup. In ancient cookery, often a highly composite dish.
Now chiefly a literary word, historical, archaic, scriptural, or used of the soups of primitive peoples: no longer a term of English cookery. But the French form is in use in names of dishes really French or supposed to be.
2. fig. 'a mess': often with reference to Esau's ‘mess of pottage’
3. Oatmeal porridge. Obsolete.
4. A poultice. Obsolete. rare
5. In proverbial phrases: a mess of pottage: see MESS n. 2; to keep one's breath to cool one's pottage: see PORRIDGE n. 4; to make pottage of a flint, to be economical or parsimonious. Obsolete.
