I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning. The blankets were all warm and toasty and the apartment was frigid. I got up long enough to run and turn the heat on, then I burrowed back under the covers until it heated up some. Apparently it's supposed to get warm again next week, which will be sad. Still, it's a positive sign that that which passes for winter in Louisiana is on its way. Now I need to look into finding some firewood and learning the proper way to build a fire in a fireplace.

New study links levee failures in New Orleans to basic design flaws

They're saying Katrina was only a category 3 when it hit. This wasn't even The Big One. I hope they pay attention and rebuild them much much better. And get rid of MRGO while they're at it.

Druidry

Ok, so I got stalled for awhile, but I finally went ahead and officially joined the AODA (Ancient Order of Druids in America). I'm going to perform the candidate initiation just after midnight on Nov 1st, to take advantage of the New Year energies. This also means I'll finally be posting to gwyn_druidry, my druid journal (I might even go ahead and make it a paid account, so I can futz with the layout and make it all pretty and druid-like). It's friends-only, so if you want to follow along, comment to be added. I think I'm settled enough now to put some real effort into it this time, and I'm really quite excited.

Speaking of hot lesbian action

So Rich brought over his Xena DVDs last night. Hoo, boy! I forgot how fun that show could be, especially the later seasons when they stopped even pretending Xena and Gabrielle weren't bonking like mad in that bedroll under the stars.

Rich can laugh at me all he wants, but that hot-tub scene was a spiritual experience, I tell you!
