Sleep: went to bed around midnight, woke up briefly at 7am but got back to sleep quickly. Alarm went off at 8am.

Pain: 1-2 It's a good day so far :)

Weather: clear, 78F, 88% humidity, high 88F

Daily BPAL: HARVEST MOON 2004
Description: The autumnal blooms of clematis, chrysanthemum, narcissus, sunflower, sage and lily twined with Dionysus’ sacred grapes and ivy, a bounty of apple, pumpkin, and ripe berries, and the amaranth and lingum aloes of Janus, all touched by a gentle breath of festival woodsmoke and sweet wine.
In bottle: Chrysanthemum and other florals first, with a hint of apple followed by an afterscent of woodsy wine.
On me: The woodsy scent dominates, with chrysanthemum, sage, apple, and ivy tones. I like it, but I don't love it, which is good, as it would be expensive to get more than what I already have.

Daily Tarot: 5 of Swords, Reversed: Beware of pride. There is a chance of loss or defeat. Attendance at a funeral. Empty victory. Sorrow. Weakness.
Well damn. There goes my good mood this morning.

I am very very excited. My community [livejournal.com profile] book_crossers has almost 30 people either watching or as members. And people other than me are posting books! I was so worried I'd create the thing and no one would join. I get a small feeling of pride knowing that I created something other people find useful.

And of course I couldn't do a post like that without a little self-promotion: If you like getting free books and sharing ones you've read with others, please consider joining. The community is essentially a book circle, where members pass books around so everyone interested gets a chance to read them.
gwynhefar: (WTF)
So this morning I went out to check the rat trap, not really expecting to have caught her since she'd avoided it before. I found that the trap had sprung, but again, I didn't really expect anything out of it. So I picked it up and guess what: there was a rat inside.

But it wasn't the one that escaped. Oh no. This was a different rat. A baby rat. About the size of a mouse. So, um. She must have been pregnant when she escaped. Which means there could be any number of baby rats wandering about the walls. Just great.

Of course, said baby rat is so *very* cute that I can't just get rid of him. So looks like I'm going to have rats again. Only this time I'm going to put them somewhere that they can't escape. Right now, I have the little guy in an all-purpose plastic critter cage, meant for everything from goldfish to frogs to hermit crabs to mice. But it's awfully small. Hamlet, on the other hand, is on the verge of getting too big for his 10-gallon tank. *sniff* My baby's gone and got all growed up *sniff*

So here's the plan. Come the first of the month, when I actually get paid, I'm going to go buy Hamlet a 20-gallon tank, and clean out the 10-gallon for the baby rat. I'm still going to clean up the porch and reset the rat trap. My new furry friend could be the only culprit, but there's a good chance he's not.

So yeah, I'm taking suggestions for names. Although since he's (or she's) too young to tell gender, names that could fit for both would be nice.

Ooops

Ok, so because I'm an idiot and I don't know how to work the forward posting thing in LJ, none of my entries from the past few days have shown up in people's friends list. So if you only read me in your friends list, please stop by my journal and look over what you've missed. Problem is fixed now :)
