Book #60 -- Cate Tiernan, Book of Shadows (Sweep #1), 176 pages.

Pseudo-Wiccan fantasy about a girl who discovers Wicca and joins a coven, only to discover that she is a rare 'Blood Witch', inheriting power beyond that of normal humans. I liked the main character, and the conflict with her Catholic parents struck a chord in me, but the dodgy history annoyed me. This is the first in a series, and I'll probably see about borrowing the second from the library to give the series a chance, but it all depends on whether the story ends up interesting enough for me to forgive the glaring historical inaccuracies. The author would have been better portraying her book as pure fantasy, rather than trying to tie it into the Wiccan 'tradition' (I use the term loosely).

I've got fleas!

Aargh! It's only to be expected with seven cats I suppose, but damn if it doesn't freak me out. I found two on me today, and of course I immediately had to take a shower and wash my hair but I still feel like I can feel them crawling on me, even though I'm pretty sure there aren't any more on *me*. The cats are another matter. I've ordered 8 doses of Frontline, which I will smear on as soon as it arrives, and hopefully that will help. I hate creepy crawlies.
