This is one of those books that defies summation. All I can say is that it is about childhood, and imagination, and friendship, and that it is quite good. The rest you'll have to discover for yourselves.

Book #80 -- Tom and Judy Lickona, Sex, Love, and You: Making the Right Decision, 184 pages.

I deserve a medal for this one. Another book for the GLBTRT bibliography project and I understand that you must give equal consideration to the other side in order to be objective but this one practically *hurt* me to read. It's a treatise on abstention from a Catholic viewpoint. Complete with squirrelly statistics and suspect "studies" as well as testimonies from "real kids" that sound rehearsed and certainly do not represent the majority of youth today, no matter how the book tries to convince you that such quotes are representative. The section on homosexuality did at least discourage violence, but took a 'hate the sin, love the sinner' stance toward practicing homosexuals, claiming that God calls all gay people to a life of celibacy. In its defense, there was less bible-thumping than I'd expected, and I think what offended me the most was the partisan studies and manipulated statistics presented as "facts" when all reputable academic studies contradict the book's findings.
