Weather: clear, 64F, 77% humidity, high 82F

Daily BPAL: OCTOBER
Description: Dry, cold autumn wind. A rustle of red leaves, a touch of smoke and sap in the air.
In bottle: crushed leaves, pine, a hint of smoke, and cold tones overlaying all.
On me: Bonfire smoke and fall leaves, with a hint of pine and a touch of cool autumn wind. Oh, the nostalgia! This scent smells just like being outside by a bonfire in the cold autumns up north. This is the scent of the Hallowe'ens of my childhood.

Daily Tarot: 10 of Pentacles, Reversed: Family misfortune; old people may become a burden. Loss of inheritance. Caution against getting involved in projects that are poor risk.

It is appropriate, and I'm sure not coincidental, that the Oxford English Dictionary's Word of the Day for today is "zombie". Here's what they have to say:

zombie: (n) 1. In the West Indies and southern states of America, a soulless corpse said to have been revived by witchcraft; formerly, the name of a snake-deity in voodoo cults of or deriving from West Africa and Haiti.
2. A dull, apathetic, or slow-witted person. Also as a general term of disparagement.
3. Canadian Military Slang: In the war of 1939-45, an opprobrious nickname applied to men conscripted for home defence.
4. A long mixed drink consisting of several kinds of rum, liqueur, and fruit juice: lime juice;..pineapple juice;..Falernum, or simple syrup;..White Label Rum;..Gold Label Rum;..Jamaica Rum;..Demerara Rum;..apricot liqueur. Shake well and strain... Garnish with..orange and..mint.

We have house geckos around the apartment. Today is the second time that I'm aware of that one got inside. Last time I had to watch as I tried to catch it, it slipped past me, and immediately became a meal for a cat. Went down in one gulp. This time the cats were watching avidly, but I managed to catch the thing before they did. So I let him go outside. I feel all happy. House geckos are very cute, imho. And now the cats are all staring intently at the corner where he was hiding, in case he comes back *g*
