Book #107 -- Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, Vol 10: The Wake, 192 pages.

I'm not sure what to say about this one. I liked it, especially the Hob Gadlin and Will Shakespeare bits. And I felt it was a fitting tribute. There were still questions I would have liked answered, and I didn't see enough of Daniel to really form an opinion of him, so I was left feeling a little unsettled on the whole issue. But overall, it was good. And I have now *officially* read all of The Sandman.

So, I have been reading an ARC I picked up at Midwinter *last year* of a book called This Is All: The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn. I picked it out for reading now because it was short-ish and something I felt I could read quickly and give away and free up shelf space. Instead, I found myself truly loving it more than I ever expected to. Thus I was wildly ticked off today to finally turn to the last page to find the story not even close to ended and the following text:

"If you enjoyed the *first section* of This Is All: The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn and are interested in obtaining a complete review copy, please contact [contact info]."

Grrrr . . . I have never even heard of a *partial ARC* in all the ARCing I've done for the past few years. It never even occurred to me to check that it was the full thing, because it never occurred to me that they would do something so annoyingly underhanded!

I checked Amazon and the full book is over 800 pages! Yay, because I'm really liking it, although I really hadn't wanted to get into something so long right now. But I have ordered it and it will be waiting for me when I get home.

And again, I say grrrr.

EDIT: In a stoke of serendipity, 'song and family and I stopped by their public library this evening and there was This is All on the shelf! So they checked it out for me, and so I don't have to wait until I get home to continue reading! Of course, I still want to own the book, even if I do manage to finish it here, so I don't regret having ordered it. On the other hand, it didn't really solve my problem with shelf space, as I can get rid of the 200-page ARC but will be replacing it with the 800+ page full book. Ah well.
