Adventures in kitten ownership

So Fiona was lying on my chest purring, when Finnegan came up. He immedaitely lay down on top of his sister and began to lick my face. Then he turned around and started licking *her* face. After awhile, her tail caught his attention so he started to pounce on it. This led to a brief wrestling match that concluded with Fiona licking Finnegan's face. Now Finnegan is licking my ear while Fiona is licking her own butt. And yes, all this took place on top of me.

Ah, the cuteness. It won't stop! I'm in danger though. Fergus is still pretty standoffish, but Finnegan has taken to this people thing like a fish to water. I'm starting to get attached. Seven isn't really *that* much more than six, is it? And it's such a wonderfully significant number . . .

I think he's trying to tell you something :)
Keep Him, He's Beautiful Cat and obviously a "People/Cat" type of Cat.
And Seven is a very significant number, perfect,
even better than six for number of cats to have:)

There isn't a lot of difference between 6 & 7 (when you're talking food & litter). Plus, he's male and cheaper to neuter!

My preference is to keep siblings together as pairs whenever possible. Sometimes a kitten just wants to be an only cat. Maybe this is what Fergus is communicating.

Whatever you decide, revel in the Cute!!

Yeah, that's my though. Fiona and Finnegan are obviously bonding with each other, as he is with me. I'm thinking I need to keep them both and find Fergus his own home. The fact that I am sitting here with a lap full of kittens is not influencing me decision at all :)

I always did want another black cat :) I'm thinking it would be a shame to separate him and Fiona, with whom he's obviously bonded. The fact that he's adorable and currently purring away on my stomach has nothing to do with it, of course!

i mean, 7 cats is a lot, but he is sooo cute. i don't even usually think black cats are that cute, but he is adorable. and reading this post makes me miss when my girls were babies :(

[identity profile] gwynraven.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, my reasoning is, I already have 6. That's already a lot. 7 can't be that much more of a difference :) And he is adorable. And it would be a shame to separate him from his sister when they've bonded :) Yup, I'm justifying, but I do believe my decision's been made *g*

No pressure at all ;-P

I don't know what the foster/adoption situation is like in your neck of the woods but here in the northeast I've had more than one rescue org. tell me its very, very hard to find black cats permanent homes.

Yeah, I've heard that. I think it's a shame, because I think black cats are beautiful. I already have one, and I've always wanted another, so it all works out :) When I was trying to choose only *one* kitten to keep, I had a hard time choosing between Fiona and Finnegan, but eventually she won out, partly because she was more outgoing, and partly because she was a calico, another favourite of mine. Finnegan was much shyer at first, and so I bonded with Fiona. But I should have known that once Finnegan got over the shyness I wouldn't stand a chance :)

You may want to check the local ordinances, because I think in order to have that many cats, you may need to have a signed statement from a psychic psycho brain doctor that says you're crazy. Otherwise, you can't get your crazy cat lady license.

I don't get why black cats are hard to place. I love black cats. My first husband and I had a black cat who'd lived three years at the SPCA because no one would take her. I just don't get it.

my crazy cat lady license was filled out ages ago :)

You know, you're NOT a cat-lady unless you stop taking such good care of your fuzzies...

[identity profile] gwynraven.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I wear my cat-lady badge with pride. It's a hoarder who takes on more than she can take care of. Which is generally somewhere around 30-100. Since I'm nowhere near that number, I figure I'm safe.

Besides, my babies are spoiled rotten. One of the things I always make sure to do for myself is cat-time. Which means every one of mine, even if there are 7, get one on one time with me. It's very relaxing.

*glare*

I'm not saying a word. Really.

But I am smirking a bit.

Hey, seven cats, seven days in the week. I can just picture you trying to match up each day to each cat ;)

[identity profile] malinaldarose.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, you're okay, then! ;-)

Hmmm . . . Siobhán is Monday. She has that 'don't mess with me, I'm having a bad day' attitude just about all the time.

Robin is Tuesday. A nice solid day. A day for getting things done. Being responsible.

Róis&$237;n is Wednesday. Hopeful, yet pessimistic. Hump day. Glass is half full or half empty, depending. Split personality.

Fionnuala is Thursday. Another grumbly day. Almost Friday, but not quite. Usually quite nice, but every now and then it reminds you that it really *isn't* Friday.

Ciara is Friday. Woo-hoo!! TGIF!! Lots of exclamation points.

Fiona is Saturday. No worries. Just laying back, having fun.

Finnegan is Sunday. Still the weekend, but haunted by the knowledge that tomorrow is Monday.

Wow, that was quite fun.

Yeah, he's a little charmer
