So, just like my biological father is descended from the Saxon Kings of England, my dad who raised me, and whose family I consider mine by adoption, is descended from Henry VIII and one of his mistresses :) Now I just have to find a royal ancestor for my mother and I'll be set *g*

Okay, I have to ask - which mistress? Because I've just got to Anne Boleyn in Alison Weir's The Six Wives of Henry VIII. BTW - where are you finding your information? I'd like to do a little rooting around in my ancestory, although what I know so far is utterly dull.

Agnes Blewitt. I have a subscription to Ancestry.com. I've been searching their databases. A lot of my information comes from what others have entered from their own personal records and histories so some may not consider it all authoritative, but it's good enough for me.

Can you figure out where you are in the line of succession? I suspect, however, that you may not belong to the House of Windsor.

I'm sure I'm quite far away. Henry VIII had a son Richard Edwards by his mistress Agnes Blewitt. Several generations later, an Edwards daughter married a Dill. A few more generations and a Dill daughter married a Gannon. My dad's mother's maiden name was Gannon. And of course he's my adopted father and not my biological father. So yeah, far too many women and illegitimate sons for me to be anywhere near succession.

I guess red hair can make it through adoption, huh? :-)

That was the only thing that made me sad about the TV version of Blood Ties. No red hair for Henry.

I never used to be overly into red hair, which is kinda strange when you consider how long I've been a Celtophile. Actually, I just never really had a preference.

I know!! I saw a preview for Blood Ties and Henry just didn't look anything like what I had imagined him to. Neither did Vicki. Eventually I'll probably get it from Netflix, but I'm a little worried.

I, on the other hand, do have quite the weakness for red hair.

It's really weird to think that if Henry was real, he and my dad would be related. This genealogy thing gets really surreal at times.

But he is hot.

And it certainly sounds surreal.

Well, he's not my type :) Although I do really like the actress that plays Vicki, even if she doesn't look anything like my mental picture of the character.

Good point. :-)

Did he get married to the widow next door? She's been married seven times before.
