So, big breakthrough this morning. Siobhán came up to be petted -- she's been doing that more and more lately -- and when I obliged she started purring. This was the first time she's purred for me, so I consider it a huge step. She's been doing very nicely in the last few weeks -- she almost never hides any more, she will approach me and ask to be petted as long as I keep still, and now the purring. And then on top of that, after I stopped scratching her ears, she actually jumped up on the bed next to me and asked to be petted again. I was absolutely amazed. Of course, she jumped right down again and backed away when I shifted, but still, a huge step forward.

Next step is to get her to not run away every time I move.

You know I never do these, but I was bored. Besides, gotta show off my new(ish) obsession, especially since the season is over and no more until Christmas. I'm talking, of course, of Doctor Who 2005. Hence several new icons and a new mood theme. I don't usually like the picture mood themes, but this one I couldn't resist.

And just so this post has *some* content other than ooh shiny! it took me awhile but I finally figured out that when Brits say "series" they're talking about what Americans call a "season". So, for all you Brits out there -- what word do you use for what Americans call a "series" -- ie, the entire show?

Not surprised by the outcome of this one, although a little surprised I got 0 on the knightly scale. I figured I had more knightly qualities than that.

You scored 5 Honor, 0 Justice, 6 Adventure, and 12 Individuality!
Arr matey. You may belive in honor, and justice, and you certainly have a sense of adventure. But mostly, you play by your own rules. Your code is your own and you are flexible in most situations.

Dress flamboyant and look into a parrot. I think you'll do fine.

So, stuff to do tonight.

Need to pick up cat food on the way home. Poor loveys are almost out.

Need to call my grandmother at some point. Been bad about that.

Need to put together a package of all the stuff that's supposed to be sent to the insurance company for the 2 or 3 outstanding claims being processed. They keep thinking things related to my sciatica are injuries, and have request that I fill out 3 separate injury forms. When I called and explained that there was no injury, I was told to fill out the forms anyway and just put N/A in all the injury questions. Plus I have to send them a copy of my previous certificate of coverage, now that I have it. Stupid insurance companies.

I also need to get together all the receipts from the move, now that the trucking company has finally sent me a statement, so I can turn them in for reimbursement tomorrow.

Just too much stuff. I hate chores.

So I got the cat food, called my grandmother, and put together a stack of mail to go out in the morning.

Went through the insurance stuff, but need to make some calls tomorrow to clarify some things.

Paid some bills. I hate bills. This is all mostly move stuff. Next month I might have a better idea of exactly how much is going to be coming in and out. At the moment, I'm paying connection and installation fees for most of my utilities, as well as some oops insurance doesn't cover this medical stuff.

Looked at the receipt I got from the trucking company. Noticed it doesn't have the amount I paid on it, it's just marked paid. Call them back. Get told that the only thing they can give me that has the amount I paid on it is the registration form they gave me when I picked up the car. Told them that the drop off place *took* my registration form and gave me a copy of the useless receipt instead. Get told that they shouldn't have done that. Now I have to call the drop off place when they open tomorrow and hope they can give me something. I wonder how long before the university won't even accept my receipts anymore. I've been dealing with the trucking company for weeks. First they say they're going to send me what I need. Then they say, sorry, backed up, it's going out today, really. Then I get it and it's not what I need. Now it turns out what I need was taken from me a month ago. Grrr.

Project for this weekend is to get all the paperwork from the move and related things like turning utilities off and on and insurance stuff all organised and filed. Right now it's mostly in two big piles marked "needs to be taken care of" and "been taken care of". Must remedy that. And enter all my receipts into Quicken. I'm determined to actually keep up with that now. It'll be easier with a set income and (hopefully) fewer random large expenses.

So there was not one but *two* roaches in my bathroom tonight. Ok, so they were both babies, only about an inch long, but still. I miss having a big strong male roommate to deal with such problems.

I hate the South.
