One reported dead, several injured in Virginia Tech shootings

This is where my brother goes to school. Excuse me while I freak the hell out.

He's fine. He lives in the dorm building *next* to the one where there were shootings. He has classes in the classroom building where there were shootings, but he didn't have class until this afternoon. They're in lockdown. Classes are cancelled, of course, and the students have been told to stay in their rooms, lock the doors, and keep away from the windows. They have one shooter in custody, but it is unclear if there are more still on campus.

Gods what is this world coming to?

Statement by VT President

Virginia Tech is now confirming 22 dead and 28 others wounded. According to my brother, they're saying that there was only one gunman, and he is dead, so the campus is now secure. News reports are comparing this to the Columbine shooting, only worse, with almost twice as many casualties. Names of the victims still haven't been released, but my brother said that most of his friends don't have classes in the building that had the shootings so hopefully none of them will be involved.
