One reported dead, several injured in Virginia Tech shootings

This is where my brother goes to school. Excuse me while I freak the hell out.

He's fine. He lives in the dorm building *next* to the one where there were shootings. He has classes in the classroom building where there were shootings, but he didn't have class until this afternoon. They're in lockdown. Classes are cancelled, of course, and the students have been told to stay in their rooms, lock the doors, and keep away from the windows. They have one shooter in custody, but it is unclear if there are more still on campus.

Gods what is this world coming to?

Omg. There was just a news report that 20 have been killed on campus... Thank the gods your brother is okay.

Yeah, now it's upped to 22 dead. According to my brother, the gunman has been killed and they're saying the campus is secure.

I went to school at Virginia Tech. I sat and watched the news today and just stared at the tv. I lived in Ambler Johnson. Didn't go near Norris, not an engineering student, but I dated one. I haven't seen the campus in 30 years.

And to bring it all back, with this horrifying news story. This will still impact your brother. The campus just isn't that big and too many people's lives utterly changed today. I wish him peace.
