I've been working on plans to go home for Christmas this year when I suddenly realised something. Christmas and New Year's are both on weekends this year. While this may be a good thing for a lot of people it's going to be a *major* problem for me. I earn most of my money working weekend shifts at the libraries. Since I'm a GA I don't get paid holidays. So if the libraries are closed two weekends in a row, I lose almost half my monthly income. I have no idea how I'm going to make that work.

1) Don't lose hope, you might be able to pick up shifts from more senior employees who are traveling for the holidays.
2) The libraries lately have been closing for the weekend after anyway, so I'm not sure how this is different from previous years.
3) There's always Christmas money from relatives who want to send you something but don't know what to send. Hope for that!

It's different from previous years in that in previous years, I didn't rely as heavily on weekend shifts as I do now, and it was only one weekend, not two.
