I think I can safely say that there are few things so terrifying as turning your head to find yourself looking at a spider sitting on your pillow 3 inches from your nose.
And I'm not talking about the little itty bitty house spiders either. This thing was about an inch long from leg to leg, with big long legs and a ball-shaped abdomen. It was of a type I'd never seen before. It was also the right size, shape, and colour to be a brown recluse, which is a terrifying thought, although I didn't pay much attention to things like the number of eyes, which is often used for more positive identification. Quite frankly, I was more worried about getting rid of it.
Which I eventually did by the simple expedient of tossing the entire pillow, with spider still attached, into a large garbage bag and taking it to the outside trash can. I can always buy a new pillow, and I wasn't too keen on sleeping on that one again anyway.
Despite no evidence of more wherever it came from, I still don't think I'll be sleeping again real soon.

Date: 2004-09-29 03:21 am (UTC)I fluff my pillows every night before getting into bed and one night, I picked them up and a spider zoomed out from underneath them. I was in hysterics, practically, and tore the bed apart until I found it and squashed its disgusting little disgustingness.
