I think I can safely say that there are few things so terrifying as turning your head to find yourself looking at a spider sitting on your pillow 3 inches from your nose.

And I'm not talking about the little itty bitty house spiders either. This thing was about an inch long from leg to leg, with big long legs and a ball-shaped abdomen. It was of a type I'd never seen before. It was also the right size, shape, and colour to be a brown recluse, which is a terrifying thought, although I didn't pay much attention to things like the number of eyes, which is often used for more positive identification. Quite frankly, I was more worried about getting rid of it.

Which I eventually did by the simple expedient of tossing the entire pillow, with spider still attached, into a large garbage bag and taking it to the outside trash can. I can always buy a new pillow, and I wasn't too keen on sleeping on that one again anyway.

Despite no evidence of more wherever it came from, I still don't think I'll be sleeping again real soon.

*shudder* Ugh. Ughughughughughughughughugh. Did I mention ugh?

I fluff my pillows every night before getting into bed and one night, I picked them up and a spider zoomed out from underneath them. I was in hysterics, practically, and tore the bed apart until I found it and squashed its disgusting little disgustingness.

I was at camp, and one of the counslers found a spider in the top corner of the bunk (she was on the bottom). she screamed and went and spent the night in the other counsler's bed.

That same week, I was taking a nap, and I woke up with a chipmunk on my belly, just sitting there.

This morning, a rolly-polly crawled out of the caulking right below the tiles in the shower (while I was taking said shower). That's the third rolly-polly I've found in my apartment in the bath - I had no idea they were crawling out from inside the wall! That brings up the total list of apartment bugs to: spiders (various sorts), roaches, earwigs, little black ants, and now rolly-pollies. Weee! I just LOOOOOOVE bugs! A little advice: never EVER live in a flood zone.

well, it was 3am. And I got back to sleep eventually, once I got over my creeped-outness.

I still contend that my "roach crawling on my neck while I was reading in bed" story is the Top Creepy-Ass Bug Story. That, and being woken up earlier this year by one CRAWLING ON MY HAND.

ok, yes, you've beat me there. But the spider was still frickin' terrifying. The more so because as icky as roaches are, at least I know they aren't going to hurt me. There is no such guarrantee with spiders, particularly that one, which resembled at least one of the most deadly spiders in America.

That right there is one on my worst spider nightmares come to life. Very scary.

Yup. The only reason I didn't scream and wake up my housemate is that I was too scared to do more than squeak in terror.
