I just read the phrase "turn of the century" applied to the year 1999. It was very startling. To me, turn of the century still means 1900, not 2000.

I tend to say 'turn of the last century' when referring to the 19th-20th handover. :)

Which makes sense. I'm just still not used to it being the 21st century yet.
