So I had another appointment with the neurologist today (as opposed to the neurosurgeon, the neurologist is the one who made my initial diagnosis, and is my pain management doctor). Apparently my most recent bloodwork came back with elevated liver functions and so they want to take me off my muscle relaxant which is known to cause elevated liver functions. Unfortunately it is one of the medications that actually *works* getting me from one pain pill to the next and doing more to help me sleep at night than any of the sleeping pills I've ever been prescribed. They gave me a prescription for a different muscle relaxant that doesn't cause liver problems, but I have no idea if it will work as well. So I'm all annoyed and worried.

Plus I had to have more bloodwork. I swear, I've been poked so many times in the past few years I ought to just have a standing appointment. On the one hand it's gotten me somewhat over my fear of needles -- although I still can't *watch* I don't get anxiety before getting blood drawn any more. On the other hand . . . it's *needles*.

I was told by a lab worker that most people can't watch their blood being drawn.

I hope the new muscle relaxant works for you. The liver's not something to mess with, as I'm sure you know (this is hitting home for me right now cause I found out this weekend my mom's numbers are not good--she's got that hepatitis thing--so I'm all about being good to livers). Anyway, there's no reason to think it won't, right?

I feel so bad for you going through all of this pain crap.

Thanks. I know it's not good to go messing with the liver. I've just been through the whole medication rigamarole so many times I hate to have to give up something that works.
