Well, there are more trees down after Ike, and even more debris piled up. But at least it doesn't look like there are any new power outages. It is very strange, however, driving through *my* city and seeing all the FEMA-blue rooftops I have always associated with New Orleans after Katrina. Please, whatever gods may be listening, no more hurricanes this season? I can't take anymore.

Strangely enough, three people/families I know well, including my in-laws, still don't have power 24 h after its being knocked out by Ike—in Ohio. And the sustained winds were only ca. 25 MPH here. Can't imagine what things must have been like during/after Gustav—you definitely have my sympathy.

Thanks. I think I was lulled into complacency by the relatively minor damage we took from Katrina here. I figured if Katrina only had me out of power for less than 24 hours, Gustav couldn't possibly be worse, right? Shows what I know!
