Book #70 -- Anne Chambers, Granuaile: Ireland's Pirate Queen, c. 1530-1603, 190 pages.

This was *fascinating*. I'd heard of Granuaile before, of course, but I'd never looked closely into her life. She's now made the short list of people I'd like to meet if I had a time machine. Definitely recommended. The idea that a woman in a semi-feudal society could amass such respect and power is amazing.

Life with kittens

So this morning, I was getting ready for work, standing in front of the bathroom mirror and putting on my makeup. In the mirror I could see the hallway between the bedroom and the living room behind me. I hear a crash, and two kitten forms race one after the other from the living room to the bedroom. Another bang and some rustling and they race back the other direction. A thump or two, and once again the silhouettes race by. This happened two or three more times. It was dark in the hallway, so I couldn't tell who was chasing whom, but they were having a grand ole time.

On me: Rose, moonflower, and lily, but lighter than in the bottle, with the undertone of ambergris and dragon's blood stronger. Not bad. Not spectacular, but a nice little blend.

Daily Tarot: 4 of Pentacles, Reversed: Prejudice, covetousness, suspicion. Hindrances. Setbacks in material ambitions. The spendthrift, too free with money. Chance of loss of earthly possessions. I am not reassured.
